Godward Heart

Judah is attempting to reconcile God in Heaven with God as the present Holy Spirit. Often we will tell him that God is always with him, that He loves to hear him when he talks to Him. So, at bedtime, Judah will dutifully turn his eyes Heaven-ward to tell the Lord about the happenings of the day.

About a week ago, we were playing Heigh-ho Cherrio, and Judah was concerned that since only he and I were playing there were two open spots on the board (Judah was the blue tree, and I was yellow). I said not to worry about it, that they could just remain empty, but Judah said, "Well, God can play. He can be red." I laughed and said that I was certain that God would love that idea. The wrench in the plan was when Judah told God it was His turn. I had to explain to Judah that although God is ever-present, that He did not have a body like ours, and so He could not spin the wheel. But that He certainly loved to be included in the game, and was excited to watch as Judah practiced counting, taking turns and having good sportsmanship. Judah said, "Oh. Okay, Mommy-- then it's your turn." The faith of a child.

Kevin has taken over the night-time routine-- telling bedtime stories, saying prayers, putting on pajamas. Usually I am feeding Annie during this time... Anyways, the boys have lately enjoyed taking turns TELLING Daddy stories. Kevin tells a story first, then Canaan will tell one then Judah. Then, after the stories are told, Judah will tell Kevin, "Now it's God's turn to tell a story." So Kevin will go and get the Bible and read to them-- because although God cannot spin the wheel in Heigh-ho Cherrio, he CAN tell a killer story.
