So... we like to pretend around here. Tonight, in the car I overheard Judah tell his cousin Will, "I'll be Captain Hook, and you can be Wendy." Uh, Judah? Will is a BOY. Also, (and I love this one) we have recently acquired the movie Sleeping Beauty, and both the boys seem to really enjoy it-- much to my surprise and delight. I guess the prince sword fighting with the dragon makes for exciting boy entertainment. Ah, but I digress... so Judah was pretending we were the characters in that movie, and he assigned the roles as follows: Mommy is Sleeping Beauty, Judah is the prince, Canaan is the dragon (because who doesn't love stabbing their little brother with a sword?), and Daddy... is the FAIRY. Bahahaha! Kevin protested that there are plenty of other characters-- the King, or the prince's horse, even. But Judah said no. Daddy is the fairy. End of story.
Canaan tonight came in with our plastic hook on his hand, and said (with a stern face) "Mommy, I'm Captain Hook, I'm going to get you down!" at which point he took a gentle swipe at mt thigh. Then he said. "I'll be Sleeping Beauty." Uh, no. I explained that Sleeping Beauty is a GIRL, and Canaan is a BOY. He said, "I'm a girl, too." Ummm, no. I reply, "No, Canaan is a boy, Judah is a boy, Cousin Will is a boy and Daddy is a boy! You are all boys." And he goes, "Nani is a boy?" Hm, nope. Oh well, we'll get it.
