Active, active...

Today I took the boys for a much-needed romp at chic-fil-a. What with the torrential rain we've been having lately, parks and backyards are not quite suitable yet. We were the only family there, so the boys had the run of the place. Canaan is not the dare-devil his brother is, and needs some coercing to go up the big steps and into the simple tunnel system. I went up with him at first, guiding his hands and feet, until he was able to navigate the steps alone. He was very enthusiastic about the tunnels, and loved the slide. So then I let him try it all alone, and stayed at the bottom to observe. Success! Canaan independently explored the playground at chic-fil-a (a big deal for my clingy little guy!). He was having a great time until his big brother decided that Canaan was a bit to pokey on the slide and elected to "help" him along. As Canaan tumbled down the slide locked in a half nelson (hug?) he decided he'd had enough of the playground.

We took our food home to eat, and Judah (who has been a variety of characters this morning: Diego, Peter Pan, and Captain Hook, to name a few), was posing as Captain Hook at the moment. He said, "Mommy, I'm Captain Hook, are you Peter Pan?" So I said, "Sure Judah," as I held out my pretend sword. I taunted, "You're nothing but an old codfish! I'll get you Captain Hook!" Judah responded, "NEVER!" and we air-fenced for a few seconds. Then Judah held up his hand and said, "Mommy, Captain Hook's eating." Then he turned his attention back to his chicken nuggets. Okay, Buddy.
